Seidu Bassit nets four goals as Accra Lions down Medeama

Accra Lions bounced back to winning ways with an emphatic 4-2 win against Medeama SC in match-week 27 of the 2022/23 Ghana Premier League on Friday.

Having gone on a run of five games without victory,  Lions got off to a great start right from the first half.

Seidu Bassit opened the scoring for the home side in the 8th minute.

Emmanuel Dzigbah found Bassit in the box and the striker clinically fired Lions ahead with his a left-footed effort.

Bassit doubled the lead in the 33rd minute from a brilliant attacking on the right by Evans Botchway.

Accra Lions held on to the lead till half time and in the second half, Medeama improved in the early stages.

The visitors were awarded a penalty from one of their numerous attacking moves and they converted through Vincent Atingah.

Thr penalty was from a strike of Dennis Fordjour which hit the hands of defender Samuel Gyimah and Atingah calmly reduced the margin for Medeama.

Three minutes later, the former Hearts of Oak centre-back scored again.

And similarly from strike from the spot. 3-2 as Accra Lions led with over 25 minutes of game-time to play

Lions played the remaining minutes of the clash and looked protecting their lead.

But in the closing stages, they struck!

Bassit scored his third of the afternoon in the 92nd minute from Remember Boateng’s free kick.

Later in the 97th minute, the last goal of the match appeared. Who else? Seidu Bassit again!

The attacker picked up a long pass from Daniel Oduro before outwitting his marker and firing home his fourth.

Medeama who are battling Aduana for the league title will head to Tarkwa and prepare for their next clash.

They play Dreams while Lions face Legon Cities in Accra.
