2022 Fifa World Cup: Nyantakyi urges Otto Addo to be firm in player selection

Former Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kwesi Nyantakyi wants coach Otto Addo to be firm in his player selection for the 2022 Fifa World Cup.

Otto Addo will lead the Black Stars to their fourth global tourney in Qatar this November.

Ghanaians expect a solid performance at the World Cup after the abysmal results and disgrace in 2014.

“Every Ghanaian loves football so anyone will have an opinion on who to be called to the team.

“But the coach knows he was appointed because of his competence and should make sure no one influences his work.

“He should work and select the best of Ghanaian players for the World Cup but if he listens to what people are saying.

It will confuse him because we all have opinions on the selection,” Nyantakyi said in an interview with Kings TV.

The former GFA Capo concluded that Addo should step down if he worries about manipulation.

“He should work as a professional and shouldn’t allow anyone tell him what to do.

“If he can’t do that, then it’s better he resigns from the task ahead.”

Ghana’s first game at the Fifa World Cup is against Portugal on November 24.

The other group opponents are South Korea and Uruguay.
