Kotoko begin proccess to appeal Richmond Lamptey’s ban at CAS

Asante Kotoko is heading to the Court of Arbitration of Sports(CAS) to appeal their player Richmond Lamptey’s ban.

The midfielder was named as a key figure in the Inter Allies – Ashantigold clash 2020/21 fixed league clash, per Ghana Football Association rules.

Lamptey, then with Allies was slapped with a ban for a period of 30 months.

He is now in his second season with the Porcupines.

Kotoko have pledged to legally overturn or reduce Lamptey’s punishment by pleading at CAS.

“Management this morning have directed our legal team to begin processes at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), in respect of  Richmond Lamptey’s appeal,” the club said in a statement

Lamptey was integral in Kotoko’s 2022/23 Ghana Premier League title triumph and is expected to play in the Caf Champions League.

That is if Kotoko’s appeal at CAS turns out successful for the club and player.

The Reds also supported Lamptey through the prosecution process.
