Hosts Ghana edged Cote d’Ivoire in a five-goal thriller Friday afternoon to finish third at the 2022 Wafu Zone-B U-17 Cup of Nations.
The first half saw the two sides cancel each other with penalty goals in the opening 9 minutes.
It was the Baby Elephants who drew first blood with a well-converted spot-kick by Yan Diomande in the 5th minute.
Abdul Rashid Adam pegged back for Ghana 4 minutes later after the Ivorian goalkeeper brought down Pius Aduah.
The Black Starlets then went 2-1 up through a Richard Apokum strike on 58 minutes.
But the unrelenting Ivorians would level 20 minutes later through an Aboubacar Meite header.
Razak Salifu however sealed the 3-2 victory for Ghana with a free header inside added time.
Ghana’s Richard Apokum was adjudged man-of-the-match for the third-place final.
Next up is the grand finale between Nigeria and Burkina Faso at 18:30 GMT.
