GPL: Kenichi stays on, names Hearts squad for Obuasi trip

Embattled Hearts of Oak coach Kenichi Yatsuhashi is to lead the side in this weekend’s match day 9 fixture of the 2015/16 Ghana Premier League away to AshantiGold.

The latest development comes in sharp reverse of early reports that the Japanese-American trainer was to stay off the team following an alleged acts of gross disrespect he showed to his employers in a meeting at the club’s secretariat Thursday.

With a firm decision on his future which Footy-Ghana understands has already been taken yet to be officially communicated, Kenichi is to continue his duties as normal and has named his squad for the Obuasi trip after meeting his technical staff Friday.

Coach Kenichi’s agent Francis Hackman Gorman has clarified that they have not been communicated to with any decision from Hearts of Oak, neither has his client also taken any decision about his future with the Phobians.

“My client Kenichi Yastuhashi has not resigned nor received a letter from Hearts of Oak on any matter,” Hackman said.

“On behalf of my client, I will like to say sorry for all that has happened in recent times. We will work hard at ensuring that the impasse will be sorted out,” he added.

Hearts who have not won a game in their last four ofdicial games will be hoping to banish the ghosts of a torrid week with a victory over struggling champions at the Len Clay Stadium.

The Phobians are scheduled to leave Accra for Obuasi on Saturday while the match day 9 encounter with AshantiGold is set for a 3:20pm kickoff on Sunday. The game is live on SuperSport TV.
