Hearts of Oak defender Dennis Korsah has joined up with the Black Stars for their second game in Group E of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) qualifiers, the Ghana FA has announced.
Ghana will be playing guests to the Central African Republic (CAR) on Sunday, June 5 in Angola where they have adopted the Estádio 11 de Novembro to host the game.
The left-back was originally not in the plans of coach Otto Addo and his technical handlers for the June assignments but has been given an unexpected opportunity to fight for a place in the team ahead of the trip.
The Black Stars are back in the capital after Wednesday night’s 3-0 romp over Madagascar at Cape Coast with Korsah joining the squad in their recovery training at the Accra Sports Stadium this afternoon.
Korsah earned his first senior A national team call-up for games against Nigeria in the 2022 Fifa World Cup playoffs but was unused.
Barring any late change in travel plans, the Black Stars will depart Accra for Luanda on Friday for the game against the CAR. Sunday’s clash is scheduled for 13:00 GMT kickoff.
