Accra Lions jumped above Bibiani GoldStars with a 1-0 win in their 2021/22 Ghana Premier League (GPL) match-day 22 clash on Thursday.
Going to the second meeting of the season between the debutants, the Accra-based side were two points behind the visitors in the league standings.
But a Daniel Awuni goal in the second half gave Lions the win at the Accra Sports Stadium and takes them to 27 points and to 13th position while GoldStars remain on 26 points and in 14th place.
16-year-old Awuni netted just after the hour mark with a sweet flick to a corner kick by Hagan Frimpong.
With complete dominance, Accra Lions kept chasing for the second goal till the dying minutes when GoldStars gave them a scare with a near equalizer. But they managed to finish with the 1-0 advantage.
Accra Lions, now five points above the relegation zone, visit Eleven Wonders next while Bibiani GoldStars host Dreams FC – both games on Sunday, April 3.
