Ghana must “turn up for the party” against organized Nigeria – Laryea Kingston

Former Ghana midfielder, Laryea Kingston expects a tough task for the Black Stars in their 2022 Fifa World Cup playoffs against Nigeria.

The men’s senior national team will face the Super Eagles at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Friday.

The Black Stars will need the World Cup qualification to boost their ikage from their recent slump in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.

Kingston, speaking to 3Sports, admitted its a tough game for the team but believes Nigeria will lose in Kumasi.

“Ghana-Nigeria games are very tough and important to both nations. Looking at the form of both teams now, I think it’s going to be very tough for Ghana because of the situation they’re in now.

“Sacking of coaches, bringing in a new technical team. The team is unstable unlike Nigeria who have a stable team.

Good technical team

“Otto Addo has been around a lot of good teams in the world – Dortmund, one of the big teams in the world and George Boateng too working with West Ham.

“Didi Dramani has been around Ghana football for a very long time, so this crop of technical team, I think, has the experience and what it takes to help the team beat Nigeria.”

Nigeria’s organization

“We know in terms of organization, Nigeria is more organized than us; we have to be very honest.

“But if they go out there and play their hearts out, listen to what the coaches are bringing on board, get used to what the coaches want them to do, I think they can pull out something.”

Turn up to party

“We all know that with Ghana-Nigeria games you don’t play with form. On the day, it’s the team that will turn up to the party that will carry the day.

“It’s going to be tough for Ghana but I think Ghana will come out tops because of the new technical team they have. I have strong belief in them that they can do something.”

Ghana will be without skipper and talisman Andre Ayew who is serving suspension for the red card against Comoros at the 2021 Afcon.

The match kicks off 1930GMT on Friday, March 25.
