Ghana youth international, Samuel Abbey-Ashie Quaye is back in the country with Accra Great Olympics after failed trials in Switzerland.
The 20-year-old versatile full-back joined giants FC Basel to try his luck for a transfer to the European club.
However, he could not land a deal with the side who recently signed his Ghana U-20 teammate Emmanuel Essiam on a straight deal from Berekum Chelsea.
Abbey-Ashie Quaye has rejoined Great Olympics on yet another loan spell from Attram de Visser Academy – this time until the end of the ongoing 2021/22 season.
During his first isn’t, he emerged as one of the revelations of the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League helping Accra Great Olympics to a sixth-place finish.
On top of his first topflight experience was a brilliant outing at the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) with the Black Satellites who went on to win the tournament in Mauritania.
In August last year, he received a late invite to the senior national team ahead of the 2022 World Cup qualifiers against South Africa and Ethiopia.
The second registration window opens today, February 1 and Samuel Abbey-Ashie Quaye is expected to be registered by Olympics in time for Sunday’s Accra derby with city rivals Hearts of Oak.
