Bechem stun Aduana with lone goal away win

The Hunters now become the third team - after King Faisal and Asante Kotoko - to beat Aduana in Dormaa this league season.

Aduana FC were handed a shock home defeat by Bechem United who won 1-0 in their 2021/22 Ghana Premier League (GPL) match-day 15 clash at Nana Agyeman Badu I Stadium Saturday afternoon.

It was a one-sided dominance in the early minutes for the Fire Club but could not make it count especially with chances that fell the way of winger Emmanuel Gyamfi and striker Bright Adjei.

The hosts were made to rue their profligacy and poor decision-making at the rear when left-back Abass Mohammed preferred to knock down youngster Clinton Duodu with a bodycheck in a vital area instead of guiding the ball to safety.

The free-kick that followed resulted in the match-winning goal in the 17th minute. Effected by Abdul Karim into the box, the ball was brilliantly met by a well-timed volley strike past goalkeeper by defender Samuel Osei Kuffour.

Both sides – especially Bechem – created more scoring opportunities later in the game but lacked the cutting edge.

After 10 minutes of additional time, Bechem came out victors picking their first win in 21 away matches in the Ghana Premier League.

The victory means Bechem United take over second place in the standings with 27 points while Aduana drop to 3rd position on 24 after 15 matches.

The Hunters now become the third team – after King Faisal and Asante Kotoko – to beat Aduana in Dormaa this league season.

League leaders Asante Kotoko are on 33 points after beating Great Olympics 2-0 at home on Friday.
