Afcon 2021: Daniel Laryea in as a Ghanaian referee makes final cut after two no-shows

After two straight no-shows at the Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) finals, at least one referee from Ghana – Daniel Nii Ayi Laryea – will be involved at the 2021 edition set to take place in Cameroon.

This confirmation comes after the Confederation of African Football (Caf) announced the final list of match officials selected for the 33rd Afcon tournament slated to take place from January 9 to February 6, 2022.

Laryea, 34, regarded as Ghana’s Number 1 referee, has been on a run of impressive continental outings over the past years.

He came very close to making it to his first-ever Afcon at the last edition – Egypt 2019 – but missed out on the final list.
