RTU get back to winning ways against AshantiGold

Real Tamale United (RTU) bounced back to winning ways by defeating AshantiGold 2-0 in their 2021/22 Ghana Premier League (GPL) match-day 5 clash Sunday afternoon.

The ‘Pride of the North’ needed a response following their heavy 5-1 defeat away to Aduana FC in the previous fixture,

RTU were made to work hard for the win as they eventually broke the deadlock late in the first half.

It was Ishmael Nketia who sent the home fans at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium into a frenzy with the first goal from inside the penalty box in the 38th minute.

Nurudeen Mohammed Yussif then made it 2-0 for RTU after a corner kick was sent in a minute to the hour mark.

The scorer of the opening goal, Ishmael Nketia, was adjudged NASCO man-of-the-match.

The 2-0 win sees RTU now tie on 7 points with AshantiGold. Both sides are also on the same goal difference.
