Ampem Darkoa and Prisons Ladies played out a 2-2 draw in the opening match of the maiden Women’s Premier Super Cup competition Thursday morning.
The Group A encounter between two very familiar sides from the Northern Zone was nothing short of drama from start to finish at the Madina Zurak Park in Accra.
The Service ladies took an early lead but allowed it to slip and trail for larger spells of the game before forcing the game to end in a four-goal stalemate late on.
Mary Adobea Asinor scored what goes into the books as the first-ever goal in the novel competition to put Prisons Ladies in the lead after 12 minutes.
Mary Amponsah levelled up for Ampem Darkoa in the 22nd minute and was on hand to make it her brace with a header from a corner kick 15 minutes later.
2-1 Ampem Darkoa led at the break.
Buoyed by their lead, ‘Nana mma’ dominated play but failed to take the numerous chances created in the second half.
And they were made to pay dearly as Prisons scored to make it 2-2 through Kubrah Abubakari right on the 90.
Ampem Darkoa’s Mary Amponsah – who hit a brace in the match – was adjudged Woman-of-the-match.
