Elmina Sharks edge GoldStars to record first win

Elmina Sharks recorded their first win of the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League (GPL) season by beating Bibiani GoldStars 2-1 at Nduom Sports Stadium Sunday.

The campaign has been a torrid adventure for Sharks who have drawn once and lost two games in their first three games.

For GoldStars,  it is their second defeat of the league after losing 1-0 at home to Asante Kotoko on match-week three.

Enock Agblenyo gave Sharks the lead in the 32nd minute following a dominant start and the hosts held on till halftime.

GoldStars regained parity just at the start of the second half through marksman Prince Owusu Kwabena who had just come off the bench.

The game looked close to a stalemate.

But Sharks piled enough pressure on their guests and Alhaji Mustapha found the winner in the 79th minute.

They then held on to victory and that moves Sharks to 10th on the league standings while GoldStars are 11th following the defeat.

The visitors will play Accra Lions at the Dun’s Park on match-week five while Elmina Sharks head to Techiman for a clash against struggling Eleven Wonders.
