2021/22 Caf CL: Hearts WARNED over Accra Stadium defects

Ghanaian giants, Hearts of Oak have been warned they risk being forced to use their alternative venue for the upcoming home game in the 2021/22 Caf Champions League this month.

This is as a result of unfixed defects at the Phobians’ traditional home grounds, the Accra Sports Stadium.

Hearts gained conditional approval to use the facility prior to the start of the competition.

However, the recommendations for improvement by the licensing authority were not acted upon when the club hosted CI Kamsar in the first preliminary round on September 19.

There have been issues with the dressing room area and the playing field.

The GFA Club Licensing Manager – who sanctioned the use of the Accra Stadium on behalf of Caf – was not impressed with the state of the pitch and hence cautioned Hearts to improve the facility.

The Ghanaian champions are preparing to host Moroccan side Wydad Athletic Club in the first leg of the final round to the group stage on October 17.

Hearts have been told that the fixture would be moved to their second choice venue – Cape Coast Sports Stadium – if the defects at Accra are not fixed in time.
