2021/22 Caf CL: Late Kordzi, Salim goals help Hearts eliminate Kamsar

Substitutes Kofi Kordzi and Salim Adams scored to fire Hearts of Oak into the second preliminary round of the 2021/22 Caf Champions League Sunday afternoon.

The Ghanaian champions recorded a 2-0 victory over Guinean side Club industriel de Kamsar in the single match tie at the Accra Sports Stadium.

It took Hearts 84 minutes to break down the visitors with returnee striker Kordzi planted home a sublime free-kick from the edge of the box.

Kordzi had only come off the bench five minutes earlier for Isaac Mensah who had an earlier effort ruled out.

With the game looking to end with the solitary goal, another late substitution by coach Samuel Boadu saw the Phobians double the lead.

New signing Salim Adams, after coming on for Salifu Ibrahim, powered home a shot through the middle in the third minute of added time.

18-year-old midfielder Salim Adams celebrates scoring on his competitive debut for the Phobians.

Hearts of Oak, with the 2-0 victory, zoom into the Champions League group stage playoff where they will face Wydad Athletic Club (WAC) of Morocco.

The year 2000 African champions will host the first leg in Accra on October 16 before travelling to Stade Mohammed V for the reverse fixture the following weekend.

The winner of the two-legged affair in October advances to the group stage while the loser drops to the Caf Confederation Cup playoffs.
