Ghana’s senior national team coach, Avram Grant has walked back on the use of ‘B******t’ in his comments at a press conference, claiming that he is being misconstrued.
The former Chelsea boss, after Ghana’s 3-1 victory over Mozambique in the 2017 Nations Cup qualifiers last week Thursday, used the foul language during his response to a question on what Africa can do to attain its semi-final target at the World Cup.
He said: “An African team can achieve this target but it is a process. If you follow the process you do what is necessary to do and if this nation will concentrate on football not the bullshit, yes just the football because there is a lot of passion and enjoy working with people. We need to concentrate on the steps to reach higher and higher level.”
Grant’s use of the word sent the Ghanaian social and sports media into a state of tizzy, making it the highlight of almost every discourse.
The under-fire gaffer who has in recent months come under severe criticism for his long and consistent stay outside the country says:
“I withdraw this word. I love Ghana, I respect Ghanaians, I care about Ghanaians.
“What I wanted to say is that we need to focus on the important things that can take us forward and not about the unnecessary things,” Grant said in an interview with the Ghana FA Communications Directorate.
