Coach Boadu lauds Hearts players for season double

Hearts of Oak coach, Samuel Boadu has praised his players for their display in the MTN FA Cup final against AshantiGold.

The Phobians won 8-7 on penalties after a goalless 120 minutes of football at the Accra Sports Stadium.

This triumph means Hearts have claimed double in the 2020/21 season after winning the league mid-July.

“This was a tactical game between the two sides and I need to praise Ashantigold too. They stayed discipline from start to finish.

“We had chances to score, we were wasteful but in such games is mostly about mentality and we defended well enough to keep ourselves in the game.

“The glory, first of all, goes to God and my players. Now we have to focus on Africa and we ask the supporters to keep inspiring the team, the board and the management.”

Hearts have been without a major title since 2009 where they won the league.

The Rainbow Boys have done the season double for an unprecedented 6th time. 1973, 1979, 1989/90, 1999 and 2000 seasons are the previous times the Ghanaian giants have achieved such feat.
