Kobina Amissah quits Bibiani GoldStars after GPL promotion

Coach Jonas Kobina Amissah has parted ways mutually with Bibiani Gold Stars weeks after guiding the club to topflight football for the upcoming 2021/22 season from the Ghana Division One League.

Gold Stars clinched a first Ghana Premier League qualification from Zone Two of the second-tier division after amassing 65 points from 30 matches,

Despite the historic feat,  Amissah – who led the side – has decided to bring his stay to an end, a decision that has been rumoured since the first round of the season.

“We have mutually agreed for coach Kobina Amissah to move on with his life after his two-year successful stay with us and indeed it has been successful.

“We wish him well in his future endeavours but look, he will forever remain in our heart,” Akwasi Osei, the CEO for Gold Stars stated.

Gold Stars will have to make new appointment in their technical team to compete in the Ghana Premier League.

Background

Kobina Amissah wrote to the management of the club that he wants to take a sabbatical leave from football after being actively involved for the past seasons.

Management, upon further deliberations, accepted his request.

This is the fourth time Amissah has left or been sacked from a team he has led to qualification to the Ghana Premier League from the Division One League – Berekum Chelsea in 2008, Sekondi Hasaacas in 2011 and Elmina Sharks in 2015.
