Espérance terminate contract with Basit Khalid after six months

Four-time African champions, Espérance Sportive de Tunis have released Ghanaian Abdul Basit Khalid just six months after signing him.

The Tunisian giants, Thursday evening, announced the striker’s contract was terminated by mutual consent.

Basit signed a two-and-a-half-year deal with the red and gold in January

But the 25-year-old failed to convince the staff and the management of the five-time champions of Tunisia.

Basit Khalid could only manage two goals and an assist in 13 appearances for Espérance as they continued their domestic dominance by winning the 2020/21 Tunisian Ligue Professionnelle 1. He also scored just once in 10 Caf Champions League games.

The giant frontman previously played for Ghana Premier League side Dreams FC before leaving on a free transfer in July 2016 to FC Prishtina of Kosovo where he began his European career.

Basit moved on to Albanian side KF Teuta in summer 2019 for one season. He then joined Makedonija Gjorce Petrov in Macedonia last summer.where he scored 8 goals and provided 3 assists in 14 games in the 2020/21 season before courting the attention of Espérance in the January transfer window.
