Majeed Ashimeru: Anderlecht negotiate €1.5m cut-price fee to permanently sign midfielder

Belgian Pro League club, Anderlecht will sign Ghana midfielder Majeed Ashimeru on a 4-year permanent deal after his initial six-month loan from Red Bull Salzburg for a cut-price of €1.5 million.

The 23-year-old signed for the Purple & White on loan in January with a purchase option of €2.5m at the end of the season.

After negotiations with the Austrian champions, Anderlecht will sign the Black Stars midfielder for €1m less than the €2.5 initially agreed purchase price in January.

There are reported higher offers from Celtic, Bordeaux, and Granada for Ashimeru’s signature, but he favoured a continuation with the 34-time Belgian champions.

Reports in Belgium say when he left for Ghana on holiday, he already booked his return ticket to Brussels and kept in touch with his manager, Vincent Kompany.

Ashimeru has featured in twelve league games for Anderlecht and scored twice. His stay can help absorb a potential departure of Belgian midfielder, Sambi Lokonga.

He has not made the Ghana squad that played Morocco on Tuesday and will clash with Ivory Coast on Saturday.
