Benjamin Acquah: Dwarfs midfielder finally cleared to begin Helsingborgs IF loan

Ghana midfielder Benjamin Acquah has finally joined Helsingborgs IF to begin his season-long loan spell.

The 20-year-old was signed by the Swedish Superrettan outfit last March after excelling in the first round of the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League with Ebusua Dwarfs. He scored five goals in 16 outings.

Before the Swedish transfer window closed in March, Helsingborgs sealed the loan transfer for Acquah but for bureaucratic reasons, he had yet to join them until now.

Acquah is in on an initial loan with Helsingborgs IF having an option for a permanent contract that applies after the season.

“It has been a long time since I signed for HIF and it has been a lot of stress and many difficulties due to the pandemic but I am so happy that I am finally here.

“I already love the arena and the pitch is so good. There are not such good plans in Ghana and here I will really be able to show what I can do,” the central midfielder – who has been handed the number 27 shirt – stated.

Sports director Andreas Granqvist has followed Benjamin through his network of contacts for some time and looks forward to seeing him in HIF’s environment.

“Benjamin is a young and exciting player who we partly wanted to take a closer look at and see how he gets into our environment but who we also believe can contribute on the field already during this year.

“We managed to find a good solution that suits all partners and it will be exciting to follow his journey,” he said.

Benjamin Acquah will join his new teammates after the June international break.
