Michael Vinicius: Kotoko sack Brazilian striker after 78 days

Asante Kotoko have terminated the contract of Brazilian Michael Vinicius Silva de Morais.

The striker – who was announced by the Porcupine Warriors on a two-and-a-half-year contract on March 17 – was able to last just about 78 days.

Speculations regarding the continuous stay of Vinicius at Kotoko have been rife in recent days with Footy-Ghana.com sources indicating have been due to his social life.

Vinicius – for the past four games – has failed to make Kotoko’s match-day squad.

And reacting to the whereabouts of the former Linkonping City frontman after his side’s 2-0 victory over Bekwai Youth Football Academy on Wednesday, head coach Mariano Barreto briefly revealed to pressmen the player is at the exit.

“Michael is no more with us. The club will issue a press release to explain why,” the Portuguese trainer said.

Michael Vinicius did not enjoy many minutes during this rather short stint with Asante Kotoko but managed to score twice in the ongoing 2020/21 Ghana Premier League. He combined 87 minutes in four appearances.
