Maxwell Baakoh joins Libya’s Al-Madina SC in permanent transfer

Ghana forward Maxwell Baakoh has sealed a permanent switch to Libyan Premier League side Al-Madina Tripoli SC and not on loan as widely speculated, Footy-Ghana.com can report.

The winger has been on the books of Egyptian topflight side Ceramica Cleopatra since December 2020 after moving on from Asante Kotoko who failed to extend his stay after protracted contract negotiations.

Baakoh has, however, struggled to cement a place in the newly-promoted side’s first team, making just two appearances in the ongoing 2020/21 Egyptian Premier League.

The 25-year-old – who signed a probational deal with a two-year permanent clause by Ceramica Cleopatra – after initially rejecting overtures from Libyan clubs including Al-Ittihad Tripoli last February – has now accepted a fresh offer from Al-Madina.

“Baakoh has signed for MADINA club in Libya he arrived on Tuesday. It’s a permanent deal not on loan,” a close source to the player relayed to Footy-Ghana.com.
