Birthday boy Kwame Opoku made the perfect start to life as a USM Alger player as he grabbed his first goal on his debut against rivals MC Alger in an Algerian League Cup derby Saturday night.
The striker – who arrived from Asante Kotoko over a month ago – put the icing on his 22nd birthday with a first-half strike that set USMA on the way to a 2-0 win over compatriot Joseph Esso’s side.
It took Opoku just 19 minutes on the pitch to get off the mark as he timely connected to a floated pass from midfield past an onrushing MC Alger goalkeeper.
