First-half goals give Bechem victory over Inter Allies

Bechem United scored two first-half goals and held on for a 2-1 victory over basement club Inter Allies on match-day 22 of the Ghana Premier League Sunday afternoon.

The defeat at Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park deepens the woes of Inter Allies who are rooted bottom of the standings.

Inter Allies got the first shot on target in the third minute when through Nafiu Sulemana but Hunters shot-stopper Haruna Aziz Dari was equal to the task as he ensured that the ball would not get to the back of the net.

Bechem broke the deadlock in the 30th minutes through Salifu Moro after he calmly put away a penalty kick for the opener.

Andy Okpe and Richard Arthur combined beautifully for Inter Allies with a fine team move – but Andy Okpe’s flicked pass to Richard Arthur was well-read by goalkeeper Aziz Dari who came out to weather the storm.

Bechem doubled their advantage with Hafiz Wontah Konkoni finding the back of the net three minutes before the break.

The visitors pulled one back in the 68th minute when a header by defender Hashmin Musah forced Doumbia to score an own goal.

Inter Allies are stuck bottom of the GPL log with 16 points while Bechem United climb to 7th with 33 after 22 matches.
