Kotoko seal deadline day signing of Unistar striker Andy Kumi

Record Ghana Premier League winners, Asante Kotoko have completed the signing of Francis Andy Kumi from Unistar Academy till 2025.

The 22-year-old striker put pen to paper on a four-and-a-half-year contract with the Porcupine Warriors on deadline day to tie up his transfer from the Division One side and bolster their attacking ranks.

An announcement on the club’s website read:

“We can confirm the signing of goalscoring sensation Francis Andy Kumi, beating off a host of other suitors.

“Andy Kumi joins us from the lower-tier side, Unistar Academy on a four-and-a-half-year deal and becomes our third signing this transfer window after the arrival of Solomon Sarfo Taylor and Brazilian, Michael Vinicius.”

It added: “The young goal poacher is good on both feet, has electrifying energy and have good aerial ability aside from the danger he possesses when in and around opponents’ penalty box.

“Andy Kumi comes with a lot of prospects, having made a huge mark in the Division One league where he is among the leaders in the Zone ‘B’ Goal King race with seven goals.”

Andy Kumi was one of few Division One top performers who last month earned invitations to the Black Stars but could not make the final 29-man squad for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) qualifiers againsT South Africa and S�o Tom� and Principe.
