U-20 Afcon: Ghana book quarterfinal date with Cameroon

Despite losing 2-1 to the Gambia in their final game in Group C, Ghana still advanced to face Cameroon in the quarterfinals of the 2021 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) in Mauritania.

The Black Satellites qualified to the last 8 as one of two best third-placed sides after the group stage of the competition.

Coach Karim. Zito’s side will now take on the Cameroonians who emerged tops in Group A.

The Cameroon-Ghana quarterfinal clash is scheduled for Stade Olympique in Nouakchott on Thursday, February 25.

Kickoff is at 16:00 GMT.

The winner advances to the semifinal to battle out with that of debutants the Central African Republic and Gambia also in Nouakchott on March 1.

Stade Olympique will also host the grand finale scheduled to kick off at 20:00 GMT on Ghana’s Independence Day – March 6.
