Amed Toure runs the show with brace in Medeama win at Sharks

Amed Toure announced his return to the Ghana Premier League in superb style in Medeama’s victory against Elmina Sharks on Sunday.

The forward found the net in each half as the Yellow and Mauves grabbed their second consecutive victory after losing to King Faisal.

As early as the second minute, Toure sounded his name at Elmina – capitalizing on a lapse in communication between goalkeeper Lord Bawa Martey and defender kingsley Adjei.

His lead was however cancelled in the 25th minute when Benjamin Boateng, with his weaker left foot, beating Ofori Antwi in goal for Medeama.

In the second half, Medeama came back stronger. They kept creating openings but they just could not hurt Sharks.

But well, there are strikers and there’s Ahmed Toure on the other side.

With five minutes to end the duel, he netted his brace by bending in a free-kick.

A good start for Toure and for the visitors, who have been struggling in the 2020/21 league campaign.

Medeama welcome Eleven Wonders on match-day sixteen while Sharks head to Accra to play Legon Cities.

Referee attacked

At full time, things got murky for the match officials. It’s surprising though.

Because Covid-19 has got Ghanaian football fans feeling pained due to the directive by the Ghana government for league games to be played without fans.

But some Sharks fans managed to enter the Paa Kwesi Nduom Stadium to attack referee Eric Owusu Peprah for the team’s defeat.
