U-20 Afcon: Satellites determined to raise the flag of Ghana high – Zito

Coach Karim Zito has stated that the Black Satellites will leave no stone unturned in their quest to win Ghana a fourth continental title at the 2021 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) in Mauritania.

The three-time champions worked out at the Stade Municipal de Nouadhibou of ahead of their Group C opener against Tanzania.

All 26 players participated in the session and appear ready for the game on Tuesday. The Black Satellites were handed a further boost on Monday, after receiving confirmation that all players, technical staff and management committee members passed the mandatory COVID-19 test.

“We are coming into this competition as champions of Wafu-B so we are coming into this competition with that mentality,” Zito said in his pre-match press conference.

“Winning the first game is really important to us in order to boost our confidence in the competition.

“We know all Ghanaians are counting on us to perform well at this tournament and we are determined to raise high the flag of Ghana,” he added.

Ghana’s opening game against Tanzania is scheduled for 16:00 GMT kickoff on Tuesday.

The Black Satellites will take on Morocco and the Gambia to complete the group stage.
