AshantiGold hold WAFA in 0-0 draw [+HIGHLIGHTS]

WAFA SC went winless for the third straight game after playing out a 0-0 draw in their 2020/21 Ghana Premier League match-day 14 home fixture with AshantiGold on Saturday.

The Academy boys were poor in front of goal but it was the battling Miners’ well-rehearsed strategy that ensured both teams settled for a barren stalemate at Sogakope.

AshantiGold showed signs they could cause havoc early when Konadu Yiadom was forced into a timely goal-line clearance to deny a header from a well-delivered corner kick from beating goalkeeper Ferdinand Sabi Acquah.

Five minutes from the break, an unmarked Marvin Owusu came close to scoring but the striker decided to head down Samed Mohammed cross – a harmless attempt to beat goalkeeper Robert Dabuo.

WAFA almost snatched it late on in the final 7 additional minutes but Andrews Ntim Manu blasted a golden opportunity wide.

The 0-0 result means WAFA have now gone three games without a goal and no victory while AshantiGold also hit a six-match winless streak.

With WAFA placing better than AshantiGold on 19, the two sides are separated by just a point in the league standings after 14 matches.
