Bottom-placed Inter Allies’ winless streak stretched to six straight games in the Ghana Premier League following a 2-0 defeat to Ebusua Dwarfs at the Accra Sports Stadium Saturday afternoon.
The ‘Eleven Is To One’ were the superior of the two sides in the first half of the match-day 13 encounter but could not find an opening with their constant shooting from distances that were not possible to score from.
And a much-improved Dwarfs punished them with two spectacular goals in the second half to snatch their 10th point in 4 visits to Accra this campaign.
Coach Ernest Thompson-Quartey’s side took the lead in the 71st minute when playmaker Benjamin Acquah weaved and danced his way inside the penalty arc before unleashing a left-footer down the bottom corner.
Five minutes later, it turned 2-0 for the visitors.
Inter Allies were pressing for the equalizer but lost possession in the Dwarfs area and George Asamoah switched play with a visionary pass which found Moro Sumaila who brilliantly hit past the onrushing Gideon Ahenkorah.
The defeat – their 10th in 13 matches – leaves Inter Allies deep in relegation trouble and at the basement of the league log with 7 points. Their gap with the fourth-bottom potentially widens after this round of games.
On the other hand. the victory reinforces Dwarfs’ top-four credentials. They are now on 19 points.
