Karela add attacker Maxwell Boakye to their ranks

Forward Maxwell Boakye has joined Ghana Premier League leaders Karela United, the club has annnounced without much details about the deal.

However, the 27-year-old reportedly signed a two-year free agent deal with the Aiyinase-based club after running down his contract with Division One side Bibiani GoldStars.

Boakye has sealed a return to topflight football after a not-so-good previous stint with giants Hearts of Oak – a three-year spell between 2013 and 2016.

He rediscovered his form at GoldStars and scored 10 goals in 13 matches in the Division One League before the season got cancelled due to COVID-19.

With his goalscoring exploits and creative abilites, Maxwell Boakye is expected to add extra firepower to an already lethal strike-force which has duo Diawisie Taylor and Kwame Boateng combining 14 goals already after 12 matches.
