Keita on the spot to give Kotoko victory over Inter Allies

Naby Keita scored with a penalty as Asante Kotoko laboured to a 1-0 victory against Inter Allies in a Ghana Premier League (GPL) match-day 12 clash Wednesday.

The Guinean’s strike partner Kwame Opoku was brought down by the visitors’ Nigerian defender Issah Ali and converted the penalty in the 68th minute of the game played under the lights at Accra Sports Stadium.

Kotoko enjoyed most of the possession but looked far from their best game this season.

The Porcupines failed to trouble goalkeeper Gideon Ahenkorah with a series of feeble shots until Ali – the birthday boy’s mistimed tackle earned them the penalty.

Keita stepped up and confidently tucked away the penalty to clinch Kotoko a vital victory – their fifth in 12 games.

With the win, Kotoko are third in the league standings with 20 points, one behind Great Olympics and leaders Karela United who play guests to Legon Cities on Thursday.
