Tariqe Fosu header powers Brentford to victory over Bournemouth

Ghana’s Tariqe Fosu came off the bench to score his first goal in the 2020/21 English Championship as Brentford moved up to second place thanks to a 2-1 win over Bournemouth Wednesday night.

Dominic Solanke, who was denied the opener by a timely goalline clearance after just 37 seconds, netted in the 25th minute with a neatly flicked close-range finish after meeting a low cross to hand visiting Bournemouth the lead at Griffin Park.

Henrik Dalsgaard equalized for Brentford with a powerful near-post header from a Mathias Jensen corner in the 37th minute.

Both sides pressed for a second-half winner, with Black Stars winger Fosu decisively coming off the bench to help extend Brentford’s unbeaten run to 16 games with a coolly taken header at the far post from a brilliantly crafted Bryan Mbeumo cross in the 79th minute.

Brentford held on to clinch a 2-1 win in the match-day 22 fixture to move within three points of leaders Norwich City who are on 44.
