‘Kotoko bid GH¢200,000 for Justice Blay’

Asante Kotoko were ready to pay as much as GH¢200,000 to acquire Justice Blay on permanent basis from Medeama SC.

The midfielder who became a key member of the Porcupines team last season was pencilled for a permanent switch ahead of the ongoing league season.

But disagreements between the two clubs slowed the transfer despite Blay’s public interest in staying put after the loan.

Club Chief Executive Officer Nana Yaw Amponsah made this known in a recent interview with Oyerepa FM.

“Medeama demanded GH¢300,000 and a 40% onward fee to release Justice Blay and only reduced the asking price by GH¢20,000.

“I asked why they were being difficult and Moses Parker explained in time past that Medeama dealt with Kotoko, they never enjoyed a resale value because the players always left as free agent.

“So this time, they want it all in one transfer move.”

The CEO further stressed on the details of their final move for the defensive midfielder.

“Our final bid for Blay was GH¢200,000 and 40% for onward transfer which was not accepted by Medeama.”

Now at Tarkwa, Blay is a key member of coach Samuel Boadu’s squad this season.

Along with Richard Boadu and Kwasi Donsu and Eric Kwakwa, the Yellow and Mauves boast of midfield quality.
