AshantiGold bounce back to 4-2 win over Elmina Sharks

AshantiGold recovered from a first-half nightmare to beat Elmina Sharks 4-2 in the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League (GPL) at Len Clay Stadium Sunday afternoon.

Benjamin Bernard Boateng gave Sharks an early lead in the match-day 5 clash after a miscue from Miners goalkeeper Robert Dabuo three minutes into the game.

AshantiGold struggled to get into their stride and were forced to shooting from long distance as the opening 45 minutes ended 1-0 in favour of the visitors.

But Appiah McCarthy would lead the charge for recovery and did so quite early in the second half converting a free-kick within two minutes of the restart.

New boy Boadu Dacosta then put AshantiGold 2-1 up on the hour mark and followed up with his second goal with a header 9 minutes later.

Benjamin Boateng scored again for Sharks – his personal second – in the 84th minute to keep coach Yaw Acheampong’s side in the game. 3-2.

But midfielder David Abagna shattered their hopes by scoring to make it 4-2 in the 4th minute of additional time.

The victory is AshantiGold’s first in three attempts and now hold 5 points.
