2020/21 #GPLwk1: Inter Allies, Dreams play out first barren draw

Inter Allies FC drew 0-0 with Dreams FC at the Accra Sports Stadium in their first game of the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League Monday night.

The ‘Tampico Boys’ started the game in a brilliant manner and came close to scoring the first goal five minutes into the game through new recruit Michael Kporvi, who moved in to connect from a Chauncy Freeman pass but Dreams FC goalkeeper Solomon Agbasi was on hand to make a fine save.

Inter Allies continued to look the better side especially in midfield where Chauncy Freeman and Daniel Lomotey operated.

The Still Believe side grew in confidence as the game wore on. They kept pushing forward and came close to scoring in the 20th minute through top marksman Agyenim Boateng. The former Nzema Kotoko attacker made his Dreams FC debut alongside Joseph Esso, Solomon Twene and Ali Huzaif.

Dreams FC gradually warmed their way into the game to finish the first half strongly, coming close through Abdul Jalilu and Agyenim Boateng.

The first half failed to produce a goal and the star performer on the night was Dreams FC shot-stopper Solomon Agbasi. He came up with a match-winning performance and stood in-between Inter Allies and a goal.

Inter Allies coach Henrik Lehm made two quick changes bringing on Collins Cudjoe for Chauncy Freeman and Richard Acquah replacing Michael Kporvi, but Dreams FC proved resolute to break down.

Abel Manomey and Issah Ibrahim were also introduced for Agyenim Boateng and Ali Huzaif.

Both sides continued to push for a goal but could not break the deadlock as the game ended goalless, the first game in the 2020/21 season that did not produce a goal on match-day one.

Inter Allies next travel to Anyinase to face Karela United FC while Dreams FC will host Medeama SC at the Dawu Park.
