Ghana in touch with Tariq Lamptey and family but… – GFA Prez

President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kurt Okraku says the national team remains open to Tariq Lamptey and other players abroad who are of Ghanaian descent.

Black Stars head coach Charles Akonnor recently handed call-ups to Racing Strasbourg defender Alexander Djiku and Tariqe Fosu of Brentford.

When Ghana faces Sudan on November 12, Greuther Furth attacker Jamie Leweling might also have a chance of making his debut for Ghana despite playing for Germany’s U20 team.

Talks of adding Tariq Lamptey to the Black Stars are still in the media space after Ghana lost Jeremy Doku to Belgium.

“We are working closely at every big talent you may have seen on your screens and those you have not.

“But we must also understand the atmosphere around some of those players because some are classified,” Okraku told Hello FM.

‘’Someone like Tariq Lamptey we have been speaking to his family to make sure that having identified him as a top talent we will bring him to represent our county.

“In the same vein, other people are also talking to him and his family to represent another country.

‘’It doesn’t come so quick and easy. We are following every top Ghanaian talent you may have seen on your screens and those you may not have seen,” he concluded.

Brighton and Hove Albion defender Lamptey has been touted as a potential player for England’s senior national team.

But in the Three Lions recent games, Kieran Trippier, Alexander Trent Arnold and Reece James have been the choices.
