It feels good to return to Ghana league – Gyan

Legon Cities new signing, Asamoah Gyan says it feels good to return to the Ghana Premier League (GPL).

The 34-year-old all-time Ghana’s top scorer joined the Royals on a one-year contract on transfer deadline day.

Having had a successful career in Europe and Asia, Gyan is returning to the domestic league for the first time since 2003 and is happy about his latest move.

“It feels good. People have been watching me outside and finally, I’m back home to where I started and sometimes it brings memories.

“Sometimes I ask myself, so how am I going to play? Like 2003 or not? My name is a household name now.

“In 2003, it wasn’t a household name and I’m sure people will be coming to the stadium purposely to see me. So I’m very happy to come and play in front of the Ghanaian fans.” Gyan told Legon Cities TV.

Legon Cities have made 14 signings ahead of next season which starts in 9 days.

Notable among the latest signings include, Elvis Opoku, Samuel Anim-Cudjoe who had a loan stint with Asante Kotoko, former Kotoko winger, Baba Mahama and former Liberty Professionals right-back Michael Ampadu.

The Royals will open the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League campaign against Berekum Chelsea.
