Tariqe Fosu joins Black Stars camp after late call-up

Brentford winger Tariqe Fosu-Henry has joined up with the Ghana senior national team in Turkey after receiving a late invitation.

The 24-year-old, on Tuesday, reported to the Xanthe Resort and Spa in Antalya, where the Black Stars are camping ahead of international friendly games with Mali and Qatar.

It is the first time Tariqe, previously capped by the England Under-18s, has met up with his Ghana teammates. He was handed his maiden Black Stars call-up in March’s squad just before football was suspended due to COVID-19.

When head coach CK Akonnor announced a new squad, Tariqe was conspicuously missing but he has been roped in late following the unavailability of some of the players invited for the friendly games.

The Black Stars face Mali this Friday, October 9, at 17:00 GMT, before a second game against Qatar on Monday, October 12 with kick-off at 15:30 GMT.

Both games are in preparation for next month’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Sudan.
