GFA receives first Macron balls in time for 2020/21 season kickoff

The Ghana Football Association (GFA), has taken delivery of the first batch of Macron footballs, bibs and nets for the 2020/21 football season.

The items were delivered on October 1 at the Head office in Accra.

GFA President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku and Executive Council member Samuel Anim Addo received the items on behalf of the Association.

In July 2020, the FA signed a sponsorship deal, worth GH¢1,600,000 to make Macron the official match ball sponsor for the Ghana Premier League, MTN FA Cup and the National Division One League.

Alhaji Mutala Haruna, the President of Macron Sports Ghana expressed excitement after the delivery.

‘Macron sports Ghana is here to support the development of sports in Ghana.

“Macron sports Ghana hereby, presents Five Thousand (5000) footballs as discussed in the sponsorship deal with the Ghana Football Association.

“We are here today, to present One Thousand Two 1,200 footballs and 800 bibs as the first shipment of the sponsorship.

“We are very excited to start the new chapter in the development of sports in Ghana.”

President’s comment on new balls

For his part, President of the GFA, Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku who received the items was delighted at the commitment shown by Macron Ghana to help develop football in the country.

“On behalf of the Ghana Football Association, we are very excited to receive you here today.

“Few weeks ago, we made public your intention to support football in this country.

“You have made a clear statement about your commitment to respecting the contract of engagement between the FA and yourself.

“As a result, we are extremely happy and as we said at the launch, football is all about balls and once we have the opportunity to play football, football will be the ultimate winner.

“We are grateful and we will work together at developing this relationship.

In conclusion, Kurt asked for more of the footballs and the bibs.

“Also, we believe that our clubs competing in our competitions will be excited at these nice balls.

“Hopefully, we will see quality play throughout the games.

“Therefore, we look forward to receiving more balls and bibs because football, is all about balls.”
