LONG OVERDUE: 2016 Black Princesses still owed World Cup bonuses

The 2016 batch of the Black Princesses are still awaiting the outstanding bonus for their Fifa U-20 Women’s World Cup qualifiers.

The women’s junior side, in their quest to qualify for the tourney, beat Senegal, Equatorial Guinea and Ethiopia to seal a ticket to the Papua New Guinea tournament.

Earlier in January 2017, an amount of $4000 was paid to the players by the Ministry of Youth and Sports (MoYS) after pleas from the squad.

That payment by the Ministry was for the Senegal game.

An outstanding bonus of $8000, that has left the ladies saddened and thoughtful of their love for the nation is the debt for the two remaining matches.

For three years and seven months, the inquiries made by the team have still yielded no positive results.

Checks done by Footy-Ghana at the MoYS revealed that the Princesses will be paid soon.

“The recent meeting by the Ministry tackled the outstanding bonuses of the various national teams and they will be smiling soon.

“The Chief Director has been directed by the Minister to solve these matters as soon as possible,” said Kenneth Annan, the Public Relations Officer for MoYS.

Asked on when the bonuses will be released, he noted:

“Time limits have not been set on the payment. I can’t assure you that it is this year but I know it will be solved soon.”

The 2016 batch of the Black Princesses were coached by Mas-Ud Didi Dramani.
