2020/21 Caf CL: Kotoko yet to decide on participation – Board member

Club's directors are awaiting recommendation from new CEO after consultations with technical team.

A board member of Asante Kotoko, Alhaji Abu Lamin says the club is yet to make a decision on participating in the upcoming 2020/21 Caf Champions League.

The Porcupines have been selected by the Ghana Football Association( GFA) to represent the country in the top-flight continental club competition.

Currently, Kotoko fans share divided opinions on whether the club should compete in Africa.

In an interview with Asempa FM, Alhaji Lamin asserts that the Porcupines will make a conclusion after meeting the club’s management head.

“In three weeks’ time, Nana Yaw Amponsah (new CEO) will come to the board and brief us on the state of the club,” Alhaji Lamin stated.

“We will make a decision based on his findings whether to play or not.

“As it stands, we leave everything to the management to help us make a final move on the competition,” he added.

Asante Kotoko’s directors’ mandate is to rebuild the team’s brand, especially in Africa.

As a result, the Ghanaian giants will have to clear the results suffered in the last edition against Etoile Du Sahel and San Pedro in the Confederation Cup.

AshantiGold is Ghana’s other representative and will also feature in Africa’s second club tourney, the Caf Confederation Cup.
