Beşiktaş, Kayserispor agree loan with buy option for Bernard Mensah

Turkish giants, Beşiktaş are said to have reached an agreement with Super Lig rivals Kayserispor for the transfer of Bernard Mensah.

The Black and Whites, if reports in the Turkish media Saturday are anything to go by, are hiring the 25-year-old Ghana midfielder on a one-year loan with the option to buy.

Besiktas are to pay €500,000 as loan fee while the purchase option after the 2020/21 season is also pegged at €4.5 million.

Mensah is expected to receive €1.25 million (excluding bonuses) from Beşiktaş as a result of this transfer.

Kayserispor President Berna Gözbasi is quoted to have all but confirmed the deal on Turkish TV Saturday evening:

“Besiktas has our word. If someone comes now and pays ten million euros, it won’t do anything.”

Arch-rivals and record champions Galatasaray were also very interested in Mensah’s services. Perhaps Champions League football ultimately influenced the player’s choice of Besiktas.

This past season, Bernard Mensah played 26 competitive games for Kayserispor – scoring five goals and providing eight assists.

The deal could be made official at the beginning of the coming week.
