Aristide Bance announces retirement from international football

Legendary Burkina Faso striker, Aristide Bance has announced his retirement from international football after a 17-year national team career.

The veteran of four Africa Cup of Nations tournaments, who grew to captain the Stallions officially revealed his decision on his official Facebook account on Tuesday afternoon.

According to the 35-year-old, he has secured the blessings to step away from the national team after a meeting with the Burkina Faso President Roch Marc Christian Kabore.

“I also took advantage of these moments to officially announce to him my intention to end my international career, the end of my adventure with the Stallions of Burkina Faso and finally give him my lucky number 15,” Bance wrote.

The lanky striker retires as Burkina Faso’s all-time second-highest scorer with 24 goals in 79 appearances.

Bance has enjoyed a storied career at club level too, having featured for no fewer than 22 teams across 12 countries. He is currently on the books of Guinean giants Horoya AC.
