Ghana striker Samuel Obeng scored to help Real Oviedo defeat Racing Santander and stay clear of relegation from the Spanish Segunda Division Friday night.
The 23-year-old’s brilliant strike proved decisive as Oviedo won the penultimate match of a difficult league campaign 1-0 at Carlos Tartiere Stadium.
Obeng’s goal – the third in 16 league appearances – came as early as the 8th minute.
The Black Meteors frontman will go on to play 51 more minutes before he got substituted.
Neither team managed to score in the second half with the match ending 1-0.
With this result, Oviedo move to 14th position on the LaLiga2 log with 53 points, five clear off the drop zone.
Having kept their status in the Spanish second-tier, they now have a chance to strategize and have another go at promotion to the LaLiga next season.
Real Oviedo will complete their 2019/20 season against Elche.
