Striker Caleb Ekuban scored but his goal was not enough as Trabzonspor succumbed to a 2-1 defeat at Denizlispor on Monday.
The Ghana international scored the opener in the 14th minute with an assist from Abdulkadir Umur.
Trabzonspor managed to hold on the slim lead into the break with the hope of earning all three points.
But Denizlispor had other plans as they pulled parity right after restart through Hadi Sacko.
The game wore on with both sides pressing hard for goals.
Trabzonspor were pinned to the back until Oscar Estupinan fired Denizlispor’s second and eventual winning goal in the 84th minute.
Despite the defeat, Trabzonspor remain 2nd on the 2019/20 Turkish Super Lig table with 62 points, 4 behind leaders Istanbul Basaksehir after 32 matches.
