GPL: I will score more goals for Hearts – Sam Yeboah

The new striker got the sole goal that handed a late victory to the Phobians in their opening fixture of the Ghana Premier League in the nation’s capital.

Samuel Yeboah has promised to get more goals for his new outfit after joining them in the just ended window.

Yeboah, after coming on for Selasi Adjei in the second half, scored in the 78th minute to give Hearts a 1-0 hard-fought victory over New Edubiase at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday.

“We had the game very difficult but I think this win is going to give us more confidence in our upcoming games to give the supporters what they want,” Yeboah told Metro TV Sports after the match.

The former Hearts of Lions striker, sealed a move to the Ghanaian giants in January on a free transfer and believes improving on his goal scoring form will be vital for the club. According to the attacker, he has the task of bagging goals for the team and he will increase his tally in subsequent games.

“I am very happy. That’s what I have worked on and I know since I have scored, I will continue and give them more goals. That is what I came to do in the team and I have to score for them,” Yeboah said.

The 29-year-old who previously played for Gent, is optimistic, a good start can place them in pole position to win the league. He advances that contribution of his teammates to supplement his in their first 6 games will be very decisive.

“With my contribution and that of my colleagues, I think we are going to push this team forward and make the fans happy this season.

For now I can’t say that [we will win the title] but gradually as we move on and continue to win at least our first 6 matches, I think we will have a chance of winning the League.

“The fans always want a win, and if we give them good performance and victory, they will come in their numbers to support the team,” he stated.

Hearts have suffered a dip in form in recent years, performing poorly and have struggled with their forward line. The former Israeli League top scorer promises he can deliver for the side.

After Yeboah’s solo goal fetched new Hearts Coach, Kenichi Yatsuhashi and the Oak family a win over New Edubiase, the Phobians will next face Medeama at Tarkwa in their next fixture.
