A statement signed by the Chief of Staff Kofi Badu Wednesday called for cool heads and calm reflection” as His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has taken steps to deal with the ongoing speculation concerning the club’s fulfillment of their Club Licensing requirement as a Premier League side and the $240,000 debt to be paid to Fifa and Esperance Sportive de Tunis over the Emmanuel Clottey transfer dispute.

According to the press statement, Manhyia frowns on the recent hostility between the media and individual stakeholders in the club as it breaks the harmony within the sporting pride of the Ashanti Kingdom.

“The attention of Manhyia Palace has been called to a heightened media warfare over the non-payment by Asante Kotoko Sporting Club of a debt of $180,000.00 owed to the Tunisian Club Esperance as a result of a Fifa ruling in 2016 and the subsequent transfer of an Asante Kotoko SC player to the same club…

“Considerable controversy has also been generated over the alleged failure of the club to meet the regulatory requirements of the Premier League licensing system for the 2019/20 season.

“The Palace is deeply concerned by the acrimony and the unedifying attacks upon the individual officers which can only have the effects of undermining the unity and integrity of the Asante Kotoko SC family and bringing the club into disrepute.

“Manhyia Palace calls for the immediate cessation of all media hostilities as it takes steps to deal with any issues confronting the club. Supporters and concerned patrons are assured that action is being taken to meet the obligations of the club and there is no danger of Asante Kotoko Sporting Club being allowed to suffer any consequential penalties,” the statement read in part.
